Most, if not all of us, want to have a relationship with God, don’t we? We are told in the book Steps to Christ, “Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend” (Ellen G. White, p. 93). Jesus spent hours praying to His Father while He was on earth. “In the early hours of the new day the Lord awakened Him from His slumbers, and His soul and His lips were anointed with grace, that He might impart to others” (White, Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 139). We commune with our best friends here on earth; how much more do we need to spend time with God? We must draw constantly from Him.
My prayer partner and I started to pray together once a week, then daily. Now we pray every morning together, taking specific requests to the Lord, interceding for others and knowing that He will answer.
I realize that although God doesn’t need me, I want to be a co-laborer with Him. He has placed me in certain situations and around certain people for a reason. I am adamant about spending time in daily prayer for whom I have a burden. This makes me so excited to see what God is going to do!
